Chinese Sturgeon Protection
The Chinese sturgeon is one of the oldest vertebrates on Earth, with a history dating back 140 million years. It is a flagship species for the protection of rare and endemic fish species in the Yangtze River, with important scientific research and ecological value. In 1988, the Chinese sturgeon was listed as a first-class wild protected animal in China. In 2010, the species was listed as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
After 40 years and five generations of unremitting technological breakthroughs, CTG’s Chinese Sturgeon Research Institute has mastered a range of core technologies essential for the protection of the Chinese sturgeon. This includes artificial reproduction, artificial construction of species genetic lineages, early sex identification, gynogenesis, germplasm conservation, etc. They have also established all life cycle Chinese sturgeon protection system and the largest artificial Chinese sturgeon population echelon in China.
